This short course provides hospitality staff with the skills and knowledge to identify and manage the ongoing risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) infections. The course is recommended for any individual working in, or seeking to work in, a hospitality business or business where food handling occurs such as food delivery services, mobile food trucks, aged care facilities, school and sporting club canteens, galleries and conference venues, and cookery classes.

This is government subsidised training for eligible Victorians enrolling in this course and the tuition fee for the enrolment is waived.

Who should do this course?

This course is recommended for any individual working in any function within a hospitality business or business where food handling occurs such as food delivery services, mobile food trucks, aged care facilities, school and sporting club canteens, galleries and conference venues, and cookery classes.

What does the course cover?

In this course you will learn how to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 to colleagues, customers and suppliers. Participants will learn a range of skills, including:

  • Hand hygiene practices
  • Effective surface cleaning
  • ​Use of personal protective equipment
  • ​Disposal of contaminated waste
  • Hazard identification, control and reporting
  • Appropriate protocols and responses in the event of an incident
  • Knowledge regarding the basis of infection and transmission

After completion of the training, you will be able to confidently:

  • follow standard and additional precautions for infection prevention and control
  • identify infection hazards and assess risks
  • follow procedures for managing risks associated with specific hazards.
How long does the course take?

Training and assessment is delivered on-line, over 4 weeks, beginning the day you commence your course. The course is mainly self-directed, with a trainer available via email during normal business hours to assist you. As part of the assessment for this course you are required to submit a short video recording of yourself performing infection control procedures.

What certification will students get?

All participants that complete the course will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit.

Please note that you will be charged the full enrolment fee upon enrolment.
Should you wish to cancel your enrolment prior to commencing course work a cancellation fee of $50 will apply.
Should you wish to cancel your enrolment after commencing any course work there is no refund payable.
