Who should do this course?
In Victoria, all businesses that serve food are required to designate a food safety supervisor who is required to be certified by a registered training organisation such as AVTES. This course is for staff handling food or food safety supervisors working in tourism, hospitality and catering organisations.
Anyone who directly handles food or food contact surfaces is required to have a Food Handler Certificate. This course applies to all tourism, hospitality and catering organisations with permanent or temporary kitchen premises or smaller food preparation or bar areas. This can be achieved in our Food Safety course.
What does the course cover?
This unit provide a set of skills to work hygienically when handling food and to ensure the safety of food during its storage, preparation, display, service and disposal. The course is mostly theory based.
In order to fulfil the requirements for Food Safety Supervisor certification students must have already completed the accredited unit – SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety prior to completing this course. How is the course delivered?
The Food Safety Supervisor course is delivered in a 6 hour workshop. An experienced Trainer Assessor runs the workshop. It may be delivered at your workplace, or our training rooms in Warrnambool or Collingwood.
What certification will students get?
Participants that complete the course will receive a Statement of Attainment issued by AVTES including accredited unit code and title. This meets the certification requirements to work as a food safety supervisor under Victorian food safety laws and meets the Australia New Zealand Food Standards (ANZFS) Code (the Code).
How much does it cost?
For individuals completing this unit, the cost is $340.00 per person.
